COMPETITION
I cant beleive its 12 months since I started blogging so I've decided to hold a joint competition with my Etsy shop.
To win a prize what I'd like you to do is check out my Etsy shop-link at the side - and leave me an honest comment either here or on Etsy conversations , about what you like and dont like, colours you'd like to see, yarns, etc. Be honest, I can take it!!!! if you think something is revolting and will never sell in a million years let me know!!!!
in 2 weeks time I'll put everyones names in a bag and pick a winner.
The Prize? A skein of BFL machine washable sock yarn custom dyed to your choice. So get commenting!!!!!
Knitting
On the knitting front Mr Clapotis is coming along slowly. Thats because I'm a slow knitter! I've done lots more knitting so my fingers and my left elbow know about it!! I cant win.
I was on the verge of cancelling i-Knit in September because of the state of ym body, But I've persuaded hubby to accompany me and we're staying over an extra night too!!
FM
on the FM front I'm much the same. I did lots of dying again yesterday so I'm exhausted and in pain today. thats life .
i've just had somebody round from the Jewish social services to get me a volunteer to take me swimming in my wheelchair once a week. so I'm looking foirward to that.
I've also been given my tribunal date 1st october. The day after my birthday. Thats going to be a jolly birthday isnt it? at least I have time to prepare my case.

Here's my competition comment...
In my opinion you've hit on a winning formula. You say you dye as the mood takes you so please don't change a thing. I've said before that as I haven't the foggiest idea about dying...you have my total awe and respect!
It's not often that I love every skein in front of me in either a yarn store or online but it was hard to narrow my choice down to one in your Etsy shop.
With only one exception all your colours work for me. The only colours I just can't bear together are red and yellow..in yarn, fabric, flowers or anything! Pink and yellow come a close second, but purple and yellow I love!
Happy Blogaversary and may your shop go from strength to strength!
will have a look and try to be constructive - I love your yarn so will be hard. glad you are going to go to I knit - I am too so may see you there x
Congratulations on your Blogaversary and Etsy venture. The yarns look scrumptious! Hope all goes well for you!
x
Love all but the green, but thats only because I don't use green myself!
Glad you are going to iknit in Sept. I'll see you there.

I love blog comps! Congratulations on the anniversary. I love the following yarns the most: PurrrfectSock- Bamboo-Merino-Nylon-Colourway-FadedDenim-Turquiose/orange mix-UK Seller. and PurrrfectSock-Alpaca-Merino-Kettle Dyed- colourway-Green with Envy-UK SELLER. the parrot is my least favourite; I like the colours on the skein actually but I can't imagine them looking good when knitted up. Incidentally, when buying yarn online I do like to see some samples of the yarn knitted up, maybe that's not feasible but perhaps you could think about it? Good luck with your yarn business and also with managing your fibromyalgia; it's a bloomin' awful condition to explain to people so finding others who truly understand what it feels like is something I really value.
See this is what happens when I look at etsy! I just couldn't resist the green with envy.
Happy blogiversary!
I really like your selection of colours - not all of them are my favourites (I'm not a fan of pink), but you have a great variety and most of them appeal to me.
Your shop announcement would be easier to read if there was a bit of space between paragraphs.
I just switched because I found the niggly annoying things about blogger too much, and I fancied a change really.
hi, I have a miniature horse name Sox!
I looked around your shop. Some suggestions I have would be:
1. make sure every single picture you post is crystal clear. On a few of your items, they are blury.
2. Keep your shop announcement page short and sweet. I'd keep that you have a smoke free home, but move the information about why you choose the colors you do, etc. to your profile page. keep your blog address on the announcement page.
3. In your shop policies, I would state that international tracking is available for an extra $3.50 (I know it's in pounds, don't have pound sign on my keyboard), please state so in message to buyer when you check out and I will send you a new invoice.
you might want to add you will ship as soon as you "received CLEARED receipt of payment" that way, when someone orders from you without credit card backing on their paypal account, they know you don't ship until money is in your hot little hands (or your paypal account as it may be).
Your descriptions are short and sweet.
if you want any other advice, I'm on ravelry, as well as Etsy, under the name FiberJewels.
Happy, Blogversay!
I like your info about how you choose your colours - gives the process more personality. I LOVE Parrot - it leapt off the page at me (but not actually into a shopping basket, sorry).
Oh I forgot to add, the other reason I changed blog and chose a different name was to hopefully prevent certain people tracking me down as easily. I know it's linked from my blog but I will be removing that link soon once I've connected up with my online friends through my new blog.
Happy Blogaversary!!!!
I'm so excited to hear that swimming is again in your future and maybe you'll get somewhere with your tribunal in October!
You're the best!
Happy Blogaversary! :D I'm loving Bamboo yarn right now! And I love that Lagoon colorway...maybe do that colorway in the Bamboo??? ;) I didn't really care for the turquoise/orange combo or the parrot, but that's just me.
Happy Blogaversary :) and congrats on your Esty shop it's a brave and exciting venture and i wish you all the best, the colours of your yarns are vibrant and just gorgeous, keep up the good work.
I love your etsy store! I like that you have more than one photo and you include the skein reskeined. You give care instructions as well as item suggestions.
I think all of your colors are gorgeous!

Hi - found your blog and contest listing on Ravelry!
On your Etsy shop I really do like all your colors. But I think color preference is awfully subjective, one person's idea of butt ugly is another's vision of loveliness so I'd take any negative comments on colorways with a very large grain of salt!
That said, the only thing that really sticks out for me is the organization of the yarns. I see you have laceweight separated from sock yarn, but I'm wondering if it might be good to separate the sock yarn into different sections with a short name, such as "PurrrfectSock Bamboo", "PurrrfectSock Luxury", etc. Then within each section just list the short section name and colorway under the photo. (Did that make any sense?)
Also while I love that you show multiple images of the yarn, I'd pick one type (either re-skeined or not) to show as the first photo for all of them.
Hope that wasn't too critical! Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!
I always wonder when I see a yarn on-line whether it will stripe or pool. It's hard to tell from looking at a skein what I might be getting. With your experience in dyeing, perhaps you could tell a bit more about the yarn, such as "long colour-ways", etc.
Happly Blogiversary!
Your yarns look beautiful. I particularly like the Lagoon colorway and the photo is fantastic!
My one piece of feedback would be to make sure every picture is well taken. No blurry photos or incorrect colors.
I like that you have more than one photo for each item. That's really important to me when I'm buying online.

Sheesh, I can't think of anything bad to say. I absolutely love your birds of paradise colorway and if I win I want something like that!

happy blog anniversary!
i love the lagoon coloured dyed wool in your etsy shop..if perhaps you could knit up a pair in your own wool for newbies to knitting socks can see? may you sell lots on etsy
I love your colour choices. About the only thing I'd suggest is to try out a couple of yarns that only have shades of a certain colour. I have so much yarn that's lovely in the skein, but when I knit it up, it obscures the lace pattern that I'm working so hard to create.
Honestly I think your shop is wonderful. I would have already ordered up several of those beautiful yarns had I the money right now.
Very nice, congratulations on your blogaversary too
I just checked out your shop, and honestly, I couldn't find one yarn that I did not like!!
Of all of them, however, I love the Lagoon the best. It reminds me of being at the beach, and that's my very favorite spot to be. I don't get there nearly often enough--8 years was the last time--maybe I should get some of the Lagoon, knit myself a pair of socks and then everytime I wear them I'll feel like I'm at the beach.
Love your shop and your creativity!! I tried dying yarn once and it was a disaster. So, I admire anyone who has the talent and creativity for this.
Beth
I think your yarn is gorgeous!
hello there Cinders! You've visited my blog now I'm visiting yours.
I love the range of colours in your hand dyed yarnyou've got a mix of brights and mutes, yellow tones and blue tones which I really appreciate as it means there's a lot of choice for everyone.
I can sympathise with the FM problem, I've got ME (lucky me!!)and i've found that knitting is improving my concentration and giving me something positive and constructive to think about. I'm impressed that despite the FM you are a businesswoman, and a talented one at that. More power to your elbow ( unless it's aching, in which case, more rest to your elbow!)
You can find me on Ravelry under the same name
Suse-the -slow-knitta, usually hanging around Craftlit and the Dr Who groups.
I love the one above the writing Electrical Storm and love I got the blues on etsy and Party Purple and
Rasberry-Choc Ripple.
Oooh! Your Bird of Paradise sock yarn is beautiful!

Congrats on your anniversary!
I like your bright, cheerful colors-- I think they'd be a delight to knit with. I like the photos of the un-rewound skeins the best because they show off the colors to their best advantage. I'd encourage you to concentrate on making your photos the best they can be-- try building a lightbox ( http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html ) to get the background and lighting consistent, and be careful of the focus on those macro shots! I hope you continue to have great success :)
I tried the Etsy conversation thing but don't know if I did it right
I found my way back to your Etsy and your gorgeous teal colourway - I will be back to buy some of that, I'm in love with that one!
makes me think of peacocks, my favorite bird...
Hi! I check out the store and I love the colors. My fave is parrot. I really like that you have bright colors. Brights are my faves! Darn yarn diet or I think I'd buy one of everything.
Happy Blogiversary! First of all I like your color choices. I'm a fan of vibrant colors but I also have strong prefences for bright colors that remain in the same color categories so your I've got the blues...Fantastic. I really am digging alot of the yarns. Vertigo is great.
Congratulations on the blog anniversary.
Your yarns are beautiful. My favorites have to be the teal and sunset colorways.
Here are my competition comments:
I would love to see some more greens in your shop. Some of the colourways are absolutely gorgeous; I love for instance Shoreline and Lagoon, but it would be nice to see a few more greenish colourways. You have a really great way of selecting colours for a colourway and then naming the resulting skein; I would be excited to see more green things done in this way!
This is really a general comment about dyeing, generally... one doesn't find as many great greens out there as other colourways.
Also, I'd love to see more semi-solid colours in your shop as semi-solids are definitely better for complicated knitting patterns, and I love the stitch-definition that comes from knitting with a semi-solid...
...but as far as variegated yarns go, I think you have a beautiful and unusual selection. I really like that you have some very bright colours as well as some more subtle shades. Disco Fever is just amazing! But I also love how you have done things like the raspberry ripple chocolate colourway and many of the others...
Overall I think it's a gorgeous collection of yarns and I have bookmarked your store for future sockyarn purchases!
Love the Bird of Paradise yarn, & the Lagoon is to dye for, sorry.
Just one query - how much is everything? I don't do $, apart from knowing that they're about two per £.
Trying to buy the Lagoon yarn & the Sunset yarn. This will take a while as my email is currently u/s so I can't complete registration with Etsy.
Will get back to you when I have email again! Should be tomorrow.
Bronchitkat- just roughly half the amount in dollars whihc will give you the amount each skein is in £.
Thanks for your comments. hope your e-mail is mended soon.
I love the colors of your yarn. I think you do beautiful work.
My email is now up & running. Trouble is I can't complete my registration with Etsy. Could I buy them from you direct?
Sorry to be such a pain.
Bronchitkat,
have another go at etsy and see how you get on. what went wrong with the registration?
if you still have probs leave me an e-mail or your ravelry nme so I can convo you
Tried Etsy again. They seem to think the password I registered yesterday, & wrote down for safe keeping, isn't the same as the one I've tried entering today (did I write it out wrong?) Oh the joys of being non-fluent in Geek!
Meanwhile try sharondotpearseatjonpearsedotnet, if you see what I mean.
Thanks.
